WATERLOO
SIX LOCALS SHARE THEIR CREATIVE LENS ON LIFE BEHIND THE TOWERS
Developed and adapted through in-person and online workshops over the last 12 months, these six original short films were created and performed by residents of the Waterloo Housing Estate.

You've seen the towers. You've read the headlines. But do you know the neighbourhood?
Launched on April 20th 2022, these 6 short films share facets of the Waterloo neighbourhood as seen through the lens of 6 residents' individual talents and imaginations.
Exactly one year earlier, theatre-makers + directors James Dalton and Bethany Simons commenced a 10 week development series with the interested Waterloo Community members. The aim was to generate a live performance sprouting from residents' lived experiences of uncertain housing - a major redevelopment of the neighbourhood and interim relocation plan announced in 2015 had not yet been revealed even 6 years on.
Following on from Sydney's Delta Lockdown in June 2021 and a period of online workshops - the project was reframed entirely to a series of films, which you now have the pleasure of viewing below.
Coincidentally, the launch of these films align with the final weeks of the public exhibition of the modified Waterloo (South) Planning proposal.
