About

Poverty Porn: The Musical!
Community Creative Consultation.

Ever watch Today Tonight or A Current Affair or picked up a newspaper and feel like you're consuming the same thing over and over again? Dole bludgers too lazy to get off their arses and get a job. Homeless people who could improve their lives if only they got that haircut. A young single mum - broke, evicted and pregnant again! It's almost as if the media recycles the same stories. In fact, it's almost as if they...got off on it.
Poverty Porn: The Musical! is a tongue-in-cheek examination of Australia's obsession with blaming disadvantaged people for their circumstances. It looks at why this narrative is played on endless repeat and how it denies a voice to those at the centre of the story.

Please join Milk Crate Theatre Artists for any of the consultation workshops below. Come to one of them, or all of them! Each workshop will include fun creative activities to help build this important new work. We can't do it without you, so step up, show up and let your voice be heard!

We pay respect to Elders past, present and to walk side by side, hand in hand for a healing future.
