Smartphone Filmmaking with SF3

Join MCT and learn smartphone filmmaking from the experts at SF3, the biggest smartphone film festival in the world based right here in Sydney! Everyone now has access to incredible filmmaking tools and SF3 will teach you how to utilise this tech and create amazing films that can screen at festivals around the world.

We start with screenwriting - what makes a great film and how can I write one? After brainstorming ideas and workshopping scripts it's straight into filmmaking - getting the most out of your phone's camera and smartphone filmmaking 101; finishing with advanced techniques in phone and tablet filmmaking, taking your skills to the pro level and putting all this practical knowledge into practice.

Once shooting is complete you will learn how to edit your film and what makes a great final cut. After some editing time you have the option to present your film for feedback and final editing help to polish your film. What next? SF3 breaks down film festival entry, putting films online and what festivals are looking for and how to stand out. Finally, the best part - an in class screening, complete with popcorn and a big celebration of our films!

Our workshops offer professional training and development for community members to build performance and technical skills. Our workshops are open for beginners through to those who have had longer engagement with Milk Crate Theatre.  We work collaboratively as a group and it's a great opportunity to connect with fellow creatives and have a lot of fun.
