Welcome to Natural Order

Milk Crate Theatre is excited to be embarking on one of our most ambitiously collaborative projects to date! Welcome to Natural Order.

Planned for presentation during Homelessness Week in August 2019, Natural Order will be a new immersive and experiential performance, addressing themes of social order, hierarchy, and social mobility. Participants will be working over the next 18 months to research, discover, muse, and create around these themes, all within the structure of our workshop programs. Eliciting some of Sydney’s most exciting practising artists, both well established and new to Community Arts and Cultural Development principles, Natural Order is offering participants a bold array of art forms through which to channel their expression – scriptwriting, film, live theatre, movement, image, sound, object, and yes – even cabaret!

What is really exciting is that Milk Crate Theatre participants will have an active and vital role in the planning of this new work, and the gradual collation of material made over this elongated creative development period. Through regular planning days, everyone who wishes to be part of the “behind the scenes” activity that is usually reserved for an artistic team, is welcome to help shape and form what will be the final presentation outcome. This means that in addition to creating a beautiful performance work, our community will also be learning about how that work is put together.
