It’s with immense gratitude and admiration that we celebrate the incredible journey of our Creative Producer, Jess Saras, as she moves on from Milk Crate Theatre.
Jess has been a part of the Milk Crate Theatre family since 2016, beginning her journey in an administration role and steadily working her way to becoming the driving force behind so many of our most memorable productions as ‘Creative Producer'. She worked as producer on Dust, SOLACE, the Waterloo film suite, Manifesto, and many more. She also served produced and hosted the MCT Podcast ’The New Stigma’, was Assistant Director on Hello, Are You Still There? (2025 co-production with Shopfront Arts Co-op) and held countless vital roles across numerous productions throughout her time with us.
Affectionately known as our company’s YiaYia, Jess brought people together, organising gatherings and celebrations that strengthened our community. Her playful energy, fierce work ethic, and deep care for our Collaborative Artists and Facilitating Artists have left a lasting legacy.
We wish Jess all the very best as she steps into new adventures and opportunities — and we can't wait to see her shine on stage or screen in the near future.
Thank you, Jess. You will be deeply missed.
A message from Jess Saras:
It never occurred to me, when I began my employment as a casual administration assistant back in 2016, that it would lead to such a rich and fulfilling career as an emerging producer. The opportunity to grow and evolve in my practice as an Artist and a Producer since 2019 has been invaluable and I will cherish my time at MCT immensely.
For the Collaborative Artist community, I want to say thank you to each and every one of you for allowing me to be part of the wonderful Milk Crate Theatre family. Thank you for trusting in me and being your beautiful, vulnerable and deeply funny selves. Collborating with you all over the past 7 years has forever changed me, and I will miss you all more than I can say. What great memories we’ve had, from takeovers of Petersham Town Hall to Sydney Theatre Company, then to the Sydney Opera House! It’s been a fantastic time with you all, and I hope you keep making work and making noise. I hope to see you all in a theatre one day soon. It’s been an honour to work alongside you all.'
Jess S.
Jodie, Jess P and Olivia remain in the office, and of course, we have the lovely Laura on hand to offer support as always. And our wonderful Artistic Team are all on hand to deliver our programs as always.
With this change, Felicity Nicol will be joining our office team to produce our adult programs until the end of the year. Many of you would know Felicity from working with her on projects across the many years she has worked with Milk Crate Theatre as part of our Artistic Team. We are thrilled she has jumped on board to help produce the rest of this year and help plan for 2026.
If you have any questions about these changes or just would like to chat, please don't hesitate to reach out to the team at mail@milkcratetheatre.com
