Stories that Inspire Change: EOFY Appeal 2023

"MCT has changed my life for the better...Being able to join those workshops, it created a safe place for me to learn to see myself and shine in my own place" - MCT Collaborative Artist

At Milk Crate Theatre we believe every person deserves to be truly seen and heard. Our transformative practices are focused on a Theory of Change and our work with individuals can lead to real and positive societal change. Through the power of performance, and utilising genuinely inclusive and collaborative material making, we amplify the under-represented voices of those who face disadvantage or who belong to marginalised communities.

Our performance works go beyond mere storytelling; they share compelling and genuine narratives which offer audiences a new lens to view society's most pressing issues, both challenging and expanding perspectives to inspire positive change in the world.

95% of audience members said that the performance compelled them to think about social issues that people face.

86% have thought about an issue, theme or idea that they don't often think about.

79% said their eyes were opened to issues, ideas or a point of view they hadn't fully considered.

75% said the performance offered them a new perspective on social issues.

Additionally, our bespoke workshop programs empower our Collaborative Artists to redefine and shape their own personal narratives, emphasising the significance of their voice and acknowledging their stories and art have validity in the wider context of the arts industry.

93% of Collaborative Artists feel more confident.

90% are ready to take on new opportunities like volunteering, further education and employment.

87% have made new friends.

73% feel more positive about the future.

Right now, MCT is aiming to raise $15,000 to support our production and workshop programs. During this end of financial year, please make a donation and together we can continue to share and tell stories that inspire change. Your contribution directly invests in the power of the arts to create positive social change, enabling us to continue uplifting the voices of under-represented Sydney communities. Your donation - big or small - advocates for a more creative, empathic, and inclusive society.

Name, Title

In all that we do, we acknowledge that the foundations of Milk Crate Theatre are on Gadigal Land of the Eora Nation and that wherever we create, we walk in the footprints of the ancestors that were here before us. We pay respect to Elders past, present and to walk side by side, hand in hand for a healing future.
